God Of War Ragnarök ‘Valhalla’ Free DLC Full Review

Sony Santa Monica Studio announced on Thursday that God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla, a free DLC, would be available on December 12, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

The add-on information was announced during the annual Game Awards 2023.

God Of War Ragnarok Free DLC Valhalla Released

“As of November 19, God of War Ragnarök has sold more than 15 million copies globally on PS4 and PS5. To express our gratitude for the immense support and affection you’ve shown the game since its debut last year, our team has been working on a surprise for the God of War community,” the firm announced on the PlayStation site.

“As fans of our fans, we’re thrilled to announce that on December 12, we’ll be releasing a free DLC as a gift to our players – God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla.”

The planned DLC is an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarok, taking place after the climactic fight against Odin and Atreus’ departure, and includes completely new components inspired by the roguelite genre.

The add-on material takes Kratos on a highly emotional and thoughtful journey to a world he never imagined imaginable. It transports him to the enigmatic beaches of Valhalla, escorted alone by Mimir. Furthermore, if Kratos is defeated in Valhalla, he will awaken outside the doors, eager to attempt again.

Kratos will learn and adapt to the numerous challenges as he makes each attempt. The more challenges he overcomes, the more resources he will have, which he may invest towards permanent renovations that will benefit both him and Valhalla.

“Kratos will always have access to all of his weapons and fully upgraded skill trees, but each attempt will require him to commit to a Spartan Rage shield and route. As you go through Valhalla’s trials and discover its depths, you will be able to choose between temporary Glyphs for which Stats to boost, which Perks to take, which Runic Attacks to use, and more. Each attempt might play out differently depending on the rewards you pick, so keep your strategy in mind while making decisions!” adds a blog entry.

Valhalla has five difficulty settings, the most tough being Show Me Mastery. Each difficulty level increases the rewards available from the combat, and you may switch them across difficulties.

Sony describes God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla as a different experience from the original God of War Ragnarök. This means you may play the game whenever you want without concern about upgrades or advancement.

If you possess God of War Ragnarök, you may get God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla for free on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on December 12, 2023, on the PlayStation Store.
